Has This Ever Happened to You?
Have you ever seen a picture you loved but it was the wrong size or shape for your space? That is exactly what happened to my customer, Melinda, just recently. She saw my Life on the Lake canvas print online and contacted me to see if I could make it a different size for her. Here is how that process unfolded...
The Starting Point...
This is the original canvas wall art that Melinda saw online. She loved the colors of the sunset and the canoe in the picture. What she needed for her walls, however, was a vertical picture that measured about fourteen inches wide by twenty inches long. She also wanted the canvas to read, "This is Our Happy Place."
The Proofs...
I began by going into the original image, changing the wording and trying to edit that to fit the dimensions she requested. Because of the dimensions of the original photo, that did not work at all. Not even a little. See what I mean?
Luckily for both of us, I take a lot of photos. I went back into my original image files from that day's canoe ride and found some possibilities. Nothing had the canoe positioned in the right way, though, so I sent her a proof of the sunset without the canoe...
It was better, but we both really missed the canoe. This is exactly why I love Photoshop. I went back into the original canoe image, extracted the canoe picture from that image and added it to the previous proof. It took a little time, but the result was worth it!
